Today we are going to finish the sermon series on the Twelve Apostles by examining the life of Judas Iscariot. Before I begin, I want to acknowledge that the book “Twelve Ordinary Men” by John MacArthur was used as the foundation for this sermon series.

Judas is his relation to Christ and Christian experience book one of the most universally known and scorned disciples of all : Derek Geldart.

As you know, we have been studying in the gospel of Luke and we have come to the 6th chapter where Jesus identifies His twelve apostles.

If you'd like to turn in your Bible to Luke chapter 6, that w. (1) Partly that he may distinguish himself from others like Judas the apostle and Judas Iscariot. (2) Partly to substantiate his claim to a hearing from his relationship to one more celebrated and better known in the Church; James was at once "the Lord's brother," "a pillar in the Church" (Galatians ), and a saintly character.

This is the fill in the blank for the Bible study of Judas Iscariot from 12 Ordinary Men. See also notes from the Bible Study found in the series of sermons here. Note: This is a study from the book 12 Ordinary Men by John McArthur an excellent book.

This is the fill in the blank outline that is a Sermon: Judas Iscariot to the study also posted online. Judas would appear to have gone to them secretly, and offered himself as one who knew the haunts and times and methods of Christ; and in doing so he showed the weak and vicious side of his nature, his covetousness, his greed, his love of money-and herein his guilt seems to culminate in an aggravation infernal and unpardonable.

From the moment he plants a kiss on Jesus of Nazareth in the Garden of Gethsemane, Judas Iscariot sealed his own fate: to be remembered as history’s most famous : Sarah Pruitt.

After betraying Christ and realizing the magnitude of his sin, Judas regretted his actions and even brought back the blood money to the high priest and the elders (Matthew ).

However, this is where can see the difference of the sorrow felt by Judas from the sorrow felt by Peter. Even Jesus’ parents named one of His half brothers, Judas or Jude. You may remember that there was another apostle named Judas: Judas, son of James who, to distinguish him from Judas Iscariot usually went by his nickname, Thaddaeus.

So when Judas Iscariot was born his parents picked what was in their day one of the best names any boy could have. It can happen to any of us. Judas kissed the door of heaven but went to hell. Jesus picked him as an apostle but he went to hell. He lived with Jesus for three years and still went to hell.

He watched Jesus walk on the water and still went to hell. He listened to the Sermon. Judas Speaks Up. Then in verses 4 and 5 Judas speaks up with unbelievable disregard for what Mary has done. Verse 4: “But Judas Iscariot, one of his disciples (he who was about to betray him), said, ‘Why was this ointment not sold for three hundred denarii and given to the poor?’”.

Let me invite you to turn with me in your Bible to the tenth chapter of Matthew this morning for our study of the Word of God. Matthew chapter In our progressing through this marvelous, marvelo.

This weekend, we start a new sermon series for Lent and Easter, in which we meditate on the characters who inhabit the Passion and Easter stories. I get to begin with Judas Iscariot. JohnMiss Duffell was my English teacher. Despite my goody-goody image at school, she was the only teacher I ever.

He was much like us not much to be said, but Jesus is the one that made the dramatic difference. His father was said to be simon of Canann, but its not conclusive. Before Christ there just wasn’t much to say. JUDAS WHEN HE MET CHRIST.

A.) John Judas, as an apostle, was admitted to the highest privilege: he did eat bread with Christ. The composite picture of Judas in the latter third of Christ’s ministry is stark.

The following traits are stated explicitly or implied by the language of inspiration. Judas Stopped Caring. At some point in his ministry, Judas had “shut up his compassion” for the poor (cf. 1 Jn. Judas Iscariot, who betrayed the Son of God with a kiss, has become the most despised person in the annals of human history.

His personality is the darkest in the chronicles of the world, and the name Judas itself bears a stigma, reflecting the scorn for him that burns within us. What is the Gospel of Judas.

The Gospel of Judas is an ancient book written between AD and in an Egyptian language known as Coptic. It was found by a farmer in Ultimately, it reached the hands of scholars who have now completed its translation, under the auspices and funding of the National Geographic Society (see USA Today, "Long-lost gospel of Judas recasts ‘traitor,’" 4/6.

THE FALL OF JUDAS. Jesus answered them, Have not I chosen you twelve, and one of you is a devil. He spake of Judas Iscariot the son of Simon: for he it was that should betray Him, being one of the twelve.

John vi. 70, Thirteenth Sunday after Trinity, Those who arrested Christ would not negotiate. Judas realized his action as a big mistake. The Bible story says that Judas found a rope, a tree and hung himself. (Matthew 26 and 27) There are many opinions about Judas, and there are many interpretations of what kind of man he was.

One thing is sure; Judas knew he had made a mistake. People don’t seem to really actually understand that Judas loved Christ, and Judas was working to maintain the integrity of Christ’s message.” [3] Several criticisms were leveled at JC Superstar both when it debuted as first a concept album, a musical on Broadway, and then also as a film.

And probably the most despicable act in the process of this murder was the betrayal of Jesus by one of his closest friends, Judas Iscariot. “The most spectacular sin that has ever been committed is the brutal murder of Jesus Christ.”.Even as He was betrayed by Judas, forsaken by His disciples and arrested by His enemies, Jesus Christ is the perfect picture of grace and love.

Notice the ways His compassion in revealed in these verses.) The Lord Jesus Demonstrated Compassion To Judas Iscariot – Judas was a traitor!
